Giving back

The causes we show up for.

Business in Balance is not only how we work with clients. It is also how our founders choose to spend their time and energy in the community, personally.

Driving for a cause

Turning a passion into a moment for someone else.

A note from Brian:

I have been fortunate in my life, and I would rather put that good fortune to work for people facing hard moments than keep it to myself. My love of cars has become a way to do exactly that. The car is really just the gift, a jolt of joy and a memory for a child or a family going through something difficult. The organizations below turn that into real moments, and I am grateful to play a small part in the work they do.

Make-A-Wish

Children with critical illnesses

Helping grant the wishes of children living with critical illnesses, and the lift a single unforgettable day can give a child and their family.

Starlight Children’s Foundation

Children with serious illness

Supporting programs that bring happiness and a sense of normalcy to children and families navigating serious illness.

Ride of a Lifetime

Moments for those in need

Creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences for people facing difficult circumstances, where the drive itself is the gift.

Calgary Police Youth Foundation

Youth in our community

Backing programs that support and mentor young people in Calgary, helping them build confidence and a positive path forward.

Board & community service

Time given to two organizations close to home.

A note from Chantal:

Alongside Brian’s work, I give my time to two organizations that matter deeply to me, one in mental health and one in equity.

Distress Centre Calgary

Crisis support & mental health

I spent six years on the board of Distress Centre Calgary, including a term as Chair. I have since stepped off the board, but we continue to support its 24-hour crisis support and counselling, offered to Albertans at no cost.

BlackNorth Initiative, Alberta Chapter

Equity & anti-racism

I currently serve on the board of the Alberta Chapter of the BlackNorth Initiative, which works to remove the systemic barriers that affect Black Canadians and to build more equitable workplaces.
